Common questions

What does Plumb inspect?

Plumb focuses on visual layout information: dimensions, margin, padding, gaps, position, alignment, Flexbox, Grid, element distance, rulers, guides and structural outlines.

Does Plumb upload the pages I inspect?

No. Plumb is designed so its core inspection work happens locally in your browser. See the Privacy Policy for the full explanation.

Why doesn't Plumb work on a Chrome internal page?

Chrome blocks extensions from running on certain protected pages, including pages such as chrome://extensions. This is a browser security restriction rather than a Plumb error.

Can I use Plumb on dynamically changing websites?

Yes. Plumb 1.0 includes handling for modern dynamic pages and single-page-app navigation, although individual sites can have unusual structures or protected frames.

Why can't Plumb inspect inside some embedded frames?

Cross-origin iframe boundaries can prevent a browser extension from accessing the document inside an embedded frame. Plumb handles these boundaries safely instead of attempting to bypass browser protections.

How do I clear a locked selection?

Press Escape while using the element inspector. The popup and on-page controls also provide access to inspection state.

How do I measure between two arbitrary points?

Use Pixel Ruler mode. Drag between two points and hold Shift when you want to snap the ruler horizontally or vertically.

How can I report a bug?

Email messageme@husseinakl.com with your Chrome version, the affected webpage if you can share it, and steps that reproduce the issue.
