Plumb

Privacy Policy

Plumb is designed as a local-first browser tool. The extension performs layout inspection on the page you choose to inspect and does not require an account or remote backend.

Overview

Plumb is a Chrome extension for visually inspecting webpage layout, spacing, dimensions, guides and related CSS geometry. We designed Plumb so its core functionality runs locally in your browser.

Information Plumb does not collect

Plumb does not collect, sell, rent or transmit your personal information, browsing history, inspected page content, passwords, form entries, financial information, health information, precise location or advertising identifiers to the developer or to third parties.

Page access

When you activate Plumb on a webpage, the extension temporarily interacts with that active page so it can identify elements and display measurements, overlays, guides and inspection controls. This access is used only to provide the feature you requested on the current page.

Local storage

Plumb may store extension preferences locally using Chrome's extension storage, such as guide settings, overlay preferences, inspection state and other interface settings. This information remains in your browser profile and is used to restore your preferred configuration.

Permissions

Plumb requests only the Chrome permissions needed for its functionality:

  • activeTab — allows Plumb to interact with the current tab when you invoke the extension.
  • storage — allows Plumb to remember extension preferences locally.

Remote code and third-party services

Plumb does not need a remote analytics, advertising or account service to perform its core inspection features. The extension package is intended to contain the code required for those features.

Data sharing and sale

Plumb does not sell user data and does not share user data with advertisers, data brokers or other third parties for advertising or profiling.

Children's privacy

Plumb is a professional utility and is not designed to collect information from children. Because the extension does not operate an account system or intentionally collect personal information, it does not maintain a child-user database.

Security

Keeping processing local reduces the amount of information that needs to leave your browser. As with any browser extension, you should install Plumb only from an official distribution source and keep Chrome up to date.

Changes to this policy

If Plumb's data practices or functionality materially change, this privacy policy will be updated to describe those changes accurately. The revision date at the top of this page will also be updated.
